Golden Triangle with Mumbai — 7 Days from Monuments to Metropolis

Overview

The Golden Triangle — Delhi, Agra, Jaipur — gives you Mughal and Rajput India. Mumbai, perched on the Arabian Sea 1,400 km south, gives you everything else: colonial grandeur, Art Deco seafronts, Bollywood glamour, and the relentless energy of India's financial capital.

This 7-day private tour brings both together. You begin with the monuments — the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort's red sandstone courts, and Jaipur's pink palaces. After four days of North India's heritage circuit, you fly south to Mumbai, where the pace and architecture shift entirely.

Mumbai's appeal is less about individual sights than about the atmosphere: the Gateway of India at dusk, the curve of Marine Drive lit up at night, the organised chaos of Dhobi Ghat where thousands of laundrymen work in the open air. The colonial core — Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the Gothic and Art Deco buildings lining the Fort district — is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and unlike anything in North India.

Throughout, the tour is private. Your own car and driver in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur; flight to Mumbai; then a local guide and private car in Mumbai. Hotels can be upgraded to heritage properties in Jaipur and seafront hotels in Mumbai.

Day Wise Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Delhi

Your driver meets you at Indira Gandhi International Airport and transfers you to your hotel. After the long flight, the day is kept light — time to settle in, rest and adjust to India time. Overnight in Delhi.

Day 2 Delhi Sightseeing & Drive to Agra (210 km)

Morning is given to Delhi's headline sights. Old Delhi: Jama Masjid, cycle-rickshaw through Chandni Chowk, Raj Ghat. Then imperial Delhi: Humayun's Tomb, Qutub Minar, drive past India Gate. After lunch, you drive to Agra (approx. 3.5 hours). Overnight in Agra.

Day 3 Agra, Fatehpur Sikri & Drive to Jaipur (250 km)

Early morning visit to the Taj Mahal at sunrise — the single most photogenic moment of the tour. After breakfast, visit Agra Fort's vast red sandstone courtyards. Leave for Jaipur with a stop at Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned Mughal capital. Arrive Jaipur late afternoon. Overnight in Jaipur.

Day 4 Full-Day Jaipur

Morning: Amber Fort with elephant or jeep ride up the cobbled ramp. Afternoon: Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), Jantar Mantar astronomical observatory, City Palace, and Jal Mahal viewed from the lakeside. Evening free for Jaipur's bazaars — block-print textiles, blue pottery, and gem markets. Overnight in Jaipur.

Day 5 Jaipur to Mumbai by Flight

Morning transfer to Jaipur Airport for your included domestic flight to Mumbai. Met on arrival and transferred to your hotel by a local representative. Afternoon free to rest or take an introductory walk along Marine Drive, Mumbai's famous Art Deco seafront promenade. Overnight in Mumbai.

Day 6 Full-Day Mumbai

Morning: Gateway of India — the grand colonial arch built to receive King George V — followed by a ferry to Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO-listed complex of rock-cut Hindu temples on an island in Mumbai Harbour. Afternoon: Prince of Wales Museum (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya), Marine Drive, and Dhobi Ghat photo stop — the world's largest outdoor laundry. Evening free for Colaba shopping or a rooftop dinner above the city. Overnight in Mumbai.

Day 7 Mumbai Departure

Transfer to Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport for your onward flight. If your schedule allows, a brief drive through the Fort district — Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the High Court, and the Rajabai Clock Tower — makes a fitting final impression of this UNESCO World Heritage streetscape.

Best Time to Travel

October to March is the ideal window. December and January are the coolest months across North India — comfortable for monument-walking and long drives. Mumbai is warm year-round but most pleasant from November to February, when humidity drops and evenings by Marine Drive are genuinely enjoyable. Avoid the June–August monsoon season for North India; Mumbai receives heavy rainfall but remains operational year-round.

Who This Tour Suits

This itinerary works best for first-time India visitors flying out of Mumbai, business travellers adding a heritage extension before or after meetings, and couples looking for the Taj Mahal combined with big-city energy. Choose Mumbai over Goa if you prefer urban exploration, colonial architecture, and high-energy city life to beach relaxation. Mumbai is not a detour — it is a destination in its own right.

Day Wise Itinerary

Q Is this tour entirely private?

Yes, entirely. You will have your own private car, driver and English-speaking guides throughout — in Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Mumbai. You never travel in a shared coach or group.

Q Why Mumbai instead of Goa?

Different appeal entirely. Mumbai is urban, colonial, Bollywood, and high-energy — India's financial capital with a UNESCO-listed Victorian Gothic and Art Deco precinct. Goa is beaches, Portuguese heritage, and a laid-back pace. If you want India's metropolis energy, Gateway of India, and colonial architecture rather than beach relaxation, Mumbai is the right choice.

Q Can I extend my time in Mumbai?

Yes. Add one or two extra nights to include a day trip to the Ajanta and Ellora Caves (a UNESCO site), a Bollywood studio tour, the Dharavi community tour, or simply more time for shopping in Colaba and Crawford Market. We can customise the itinerary around your schedule.

Q Is the Jaipur–Mumbai flight included?

Yes, the economy class domestic flight from Jaipur to Mumbai is included in the tour price. Business class upgrades are available on request at an additional cost.

Q Can we visit a Bollywood studio?

Yes. A half-day Bollywood studio tour visiting working film sets is a popular add-on for Mumbai. This must be arranged in advance as set access depends on shooting schedules. Contact us when booking to check availability.

Q How much time is spent in Mumbai?

The standard itinerary gives you approximately 1.5 days in Mumbai: the afternoon of Day 5, a full Day 6, and the morning of Day 7 before departure. We recommend adding at least one extra night if you want to see more of the city at a relaxed pace.
